The Red Thread

Long before Eudromia was a name, Las Martinetas was a station. In the closing years of the nineteenth century, the Buenos Aires Great Southern Railway — a British company, built by British engineers — laid the line that carried wool and grain from these plains out into the world. The warehouses they built still stand. So does the ironwork: pieces stamped, quietly and permanently, J. Cowdy — London, the mark of a London firm that once shipped its finest fittings halfway across the world to a station named after a small, ground-nesting bird that rarely bothered to fly.

Those same warehouses now house something else entirely: the biofactory where, under exacting regulation, the cannabidiol carried in the Origin Balm is grown and refined. What once moved wool north now moves something smaller — and, we think, no less considered — in the other direction.

We did not choose this thread. We inherited it, the way one inherits a name. And so today we simply follow it back the way it came — from Las Martinetas to London's most considered addresses — not as a metaphor, but as a route that was, quite literally, already laid.
